According to current statistics, almost 180 thousand one-parent families and over 270 thousand children are at risk of poverty in Slovakia. Every 6th child in Slovakia lives in a home with income below poverty line.
The living and working situation of single parents is more complex compared to families where a child is raised by both parents and often puts them in a more vulnerable position socially, economically and at work. The biggest problem of poverty is that when a family falls into it, it cannot get out of this trap and remains in it.
The money we collect will be used for our unique Annual program of assistance to one-parent families and children. Through professional, humanitarian and food aid, we help single parents and their children in one-parent households during the 12 months of the program. With our help, single parents in a difficult life situation can stand on their own feet again.
We help one-parent families
JEDEN RODIČ n.o. supports families where only one parent is present when raising children.
Through professional and humanitarian aid, we help single parents and their children in one-parent households. There is much more missing in these families than just a second income. Whether it is education, taking care of the household or supporting the family, parents are completely alone. In addition, some of them do not even have a regular income because they are discriminated against in the labor market.
The long-term neglect of one-parent households, combined with the current economic situation, caused even greater isolation of the Slovak single-parents and put them in endangered situation.
